My girlfriend had been telling me to watch this movie for several weeks, but last night me, her, and a couple other friends were able to watch it all together! I had no clue what I was in for, and it was one of the best movies I've seen in a while, but maybe that's just because I'm Texan.
I was sitting there the whole time like that one photo of Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the TV because every couple minutes was a Texan specific joke that absolutely had me rolling, but don't think that's its all a comedy. The whole movie is centered around the murder of a young woman in the middle of nowhere in Texas, and the exploitation of narrative that occurs when people outside of a tight-knit community try to cover the intricacies of the relationships of people within it.
I think that this did a wonderful job at making a compelling social commentary, while also humanizing people in the south. It also was just so wildly entertaining and I've already told my whole family to sit down and watch it ASAP!
Please watch this if you haven't already :)

I originally started watching this show while I was on a plane going to Minnesota!
The theme song is an absolute banger, and pretty much every song that's played in the show suits it so well it's insane. I absolutely loved the soundtrack, and the show itself makes me want to move to Ireland ASAP!!!
Most of the time, I feel like it is difficult for me to enjoy a show that hides information from you to keep you from figuring out the mystery before the main characters, but the particular way this show pulled that off absoultely astounded me. It was so well done and literally made me unable to watch only one episode at a time... I'm so in love with the characters and so in hate with John Paul.
I don't think I can recommend this show highly enough... Apple TV is unfortunately making really great shows right now.

I never thought I was going to enjoy this show because I have such a low tolerance for gore, and the only people that I knew who liked it were like ultra right-wing fans. My girlfriend introduced it to me though because she's writing a thesis on violence and gore in the superhero genre, and I was like... it won't hurt to watch one episode, right?
I actually got way too into it, and I binged it all in just a couple days... lol
I wouldn't say my tolerance for gore has gotten that much better honestly. One thing that made the gore more palatable for me is that the camera hardly lingers for too long, but the severity of the gore is unlike anything I've seen. Maybe it's because the gore isn't very much grounded in reality, but it wasn't too difficult to watch. I feel like that says things about how human bodies are treated in a comedic sense, but I'm not the one writing a thesis about it.
There are so many allusions to real-world events in this show that make it surprising to me that this show has any right-wing fans to begin with, but maybe it's their fascination with gore that allows them to completely ignore the anti-right-wing stances in the show. I do think that season 3 was unfortunately worse in terms of character development, as it actively undid any growth we saw in the main bunch in a kind of unfounded way. That is the reason for the lower rating, it would have been a 4-4.5/5 otherwise. I am super excited to watch the next season though!

This movie makes me feel like I smoked a joint before I sat down in front of my tv lmao.
Memento makes you solve a murder case alongside a man with anterograde amnesia, and boy does it make you put in the work. My brain was reeling the entire time trying to piece everything together but it was such a fun and intriguing challenge.
I think what this movie got right in terms of editing is so hard to replicate without making it seem like the entire concept was just copy and pasted. That's not necessarily the hallmark of a good film, but it definitely means that it's choices stick with you, and make you think about it for a long time afterwards.
I wish I could just forget seeing this movie so I could watch it all over again.

What can I say but oh. my. god. I am so totally obsessed!!!
The styling of this show is so immensely beautiful. The lighting and set design are able to make the most soul-sucking of environments come alive, and the whole feel of the show is so cohesive.
I fell in love with all of the characters so quickly, but Helly found her way into my heart from the very first episode. The writing is spectacular and really allows each actor to play to their own strengths.
I hope I get to see more work like this out of other streaming services too (though I tend to favor pirating), but I absolutely can't wait to watch season two when it is released.
